Sofia Sarakenidou

Sarakenidou Sofia

I am an early childhood educator and psychologist and have been working with children since 2006. I have been trained in the Montessori approach for children 3-6 years old and I enjoy presenting its underlying philosophy to parent and educator groups.

From 2015 to 2023 I have been a member of the Little Tree team in Thessaloniki, a self-organised educational project, developed along the principles of libertarian education and experiential learning. Part of my work within the team consisted of the organisation of annual training seminars for preschool teachers on the Montessori approach for children 3-6 years old.

In parallel with my work in education, I have completed my studies at the Psychology Department of the University of Thessaloniki, while I was also trained in the postmodern systemic therapies with Bienestar Centre.

At the time being I live in a village near Xanthi, in an attempt to reconnect with nature, immersing myself in gardening and working with children and adult groups. I am also doing a master’s degree in applied developmental psychology with the Greek Open University.
