Spurred on by cleavers, a member of the group observes that as it seems, anything that grows in the garden and is often considered useless, it is actually quite important.
Similarly to members from the previous herbalism group last year, commenting: “What? The same chickweed eaten by our chicken? You mean chicken eat better than we do?”
This year the conclusion remains the same: there is nothing worthless under the sun.
If we could transplant this understanding to everyday practices what would change? What would remain the same? How would we perceive Others? The plants, the crawling ones, the four-legged, the winged ones? Everything and everyone setting roots in one place, or migrating elsewhere? How would we related to the waters and the winds?
Finally: would we be willing to consider some human beings as more expendable in relation to others? How would we reshape all our relationships in general – as internalised patterns, within families, friendships and communities, within the places we inhabit and this planet we have in common?
